Creating the Webinar Invite
Creating an exciting invite is actually pretty easy once you get the core information on the page. Remember your old birthday party invitations? They always included the date, time, location, who it was for, and RSVP information. The same principle applies to a webinar invite. You’ll want to include the topic, speaker name, time, date, cost and registration info.
Once you’ve got the basics down, you’ll want to add the benefits of attending, think of them as “teasers” or “tidbits” if you will. Graphics are super important – keep the content easy to read but not too busy. Choose two to three colors, (black and white don’t count) and keep them consistent. Don’t try to mix too many fonts and/or styles. Nothing is worse than opening up an invitation and being bombarded with six different colors, four font styles in four sizes all in a mix regular, bold, and italic fonts. The reader won’t know where to look and it’s your job to guide their eye to the most important elements: topic, date, and benefit of attending.
Here is an example of one we designed for our in-house webinar, “Planning Your First Webinar” (Coincidentally, this course teaches you how to create a good invite). Bullet points and color-blocked boxes are a great way to break up the invitation and highlight what you want the viewer to read. It’s also important to keep your target audience in mind. If you’re trying to attract executives for a B2B webinar, chances are you won’t want to use a ton of bright colors and funky fonts. However, if you are trying to reach a group of parents, brightly colored fonts in a playful layout might make more sense.
Whether you’re making an invite for free or paid webinars, just remember – keep it simple and keep it relevant.
